Some big updates to share with everyone today! I spent Saturday and this afternoon on the website and I’m excited to report the following changes/additions:
- After the “Home” link, all other links have been alphabetized.
- The “About” page consists of two links – one to a FAQ and another to the Story of the Grove.
- The “Archives” page has been changed. Links are alphabetical. I changed some categories. There’s a yet to be made section for articles and the book club. The “Chants” and “DP” page have been changed to match the main pages. I moved “Artisans, Bards, Folk of the Grove, and Warriors” to a “People of Muin Mound Grove” section. Also there is a yet to be made “Druid Scouts.” I have to tweak the layout a bit. There are some minute things annoying me… I also left room for future additions.
- I added our social event to the calendar.
- A new page, “Services” has been added including information about weddings and sainings. I included a couple photos from my wedding featuring the altar and Skip. I’ve asked Parallax if she is willing to share a photo from her wedding as well. If anyone else has a photo of their wedding/handfasting or saining (done by Skip or at the Grove), please send them my way! I mentioned funerals but I don’t know what to say about those. This page will be a work in progress, of course. I look to the rest of you for help in fleshing it out. I thought it was important for newcomers to see what we can offer in terms of major life events.
- I’ve saved the best for last – The CafePress link! Skip sent me the shop he made and you can now access it from our website! Skip also informed me that $3 of every purchase goes towards Muin Mound Grove. There are SO many things to buy including organic tees, a tank top, onesies, magnets, totes, sweatshirts, and dog bowls.
Once more, I’d like to request artisans, bards, and warriors to send any examples of their work. At the moment, I have links to my ADF consignment page and my Deviant Art page, as well as Phoenix’s ADF consignment page. I know Willow won an award at the Wellspring Artisan competition but I can’t remember the name of the piece or the category. I have a few honors mentioned under “Bards” but I don’t have any examples. If you’d like to send in some poetry or music, please do!

Jen K. requested a different image on the homepage as the lightening had more to do with Taranis than Airmid and Miach – the Gods we’ll be honoring for Midsummer. I suggested a photo of the Airmid doll I made and she thought that sounded great. I’m happy to share my work as I think the site would benefit from more “homemade” images.
I also noticed that Beltaine’s meeting minutes weren’t loading correctly so I tweaked that.
Soon I’ll be adding our Wellspring meeting minutes and photos!

I’m slowly changing the layout of the website using some CSS. No more frames! It’s difficult for some of our visitors to use on older browsers. It will be a slow process but the main pages all load correctly with the exception of the map on the directions page. I will have to fiddle with that!

I’m sorry for the delay in posting the minutes. Here they are! They are also on the website.
Spring Equinox Business Meeting Minutes
Meeting called to order at 3:35 pm
Members present: Skip, Sharon, Mel, Ellie, Candee, Brian, Jen K., Jen E.
o We discussed the grove’s tabard tradition and how to make one
o The grove supplied the material
o New folk of the grove are to finish the tabards at home and decorate as desired
o Skip will email a template of Celtic knots for decorating
* New Traditions
o Jen K feels that grove accomplishments should be celebrated. She brought an ice cream cake to celebrate Mel and Skip’s finished DPs as well as Candee’s submission. Everyone seemed to enjoy this.
o Jen K also expressed the desire to say a prayer before the potluck begins. Mel seconded that idea.
o Preregistration is opened
o There was discussion on who is and isn’t planning to attend
o There will be a North East Region camping site
o Everyone was reminded to participate in ADF’s election
o There was a brief description on the merits of voting
* Grove Attendance
o Jen K is concerned about grove attendance and, in particular, why people do not visit or return. Possible suggestions were the mosquitoes in the summer and emphasis on academics in ADF overall.
o Mel gave some updates on the MM website. She is experimenting with CSS in an attempt to make the site easier to view on older browsers.
o There is a new section for poetry, art, and music. Please send anything you want to share to email@example.com.
o Mel would like to create a section just for Druid Scouts
o There is a new Muin Mound blog.
* New Grove Book and Bardic CD
o Skip reported that the grove’s “Wheel of the Year” book is officially out of stock. He intends to rewrite a new edition.
o The grove would like to record a new CD of chants for members to use
o There was discussion about finding a drummer and/or other musicians willing to help.
* Druid Scouts
o Jen K updated everyone on Druid Scouts. At the last meeting, the children discussed virtues and created patches to represent each if they could explain or demonstrate their understanding. Thus far, Abby, Brice, Rhiannon, and McKenzie each earned a patch.
o Jen K and Jen E have been brainstorming what to use for a uniform. At the moment, they are thinking of making satchels instead of sashes.
o Jen K would like to work with the kids in Druid Scouts to come up with content for a Druid Scout section on the MM website.
* Book Club
o Mel introduced the idea of starting a book club within Muin Mound as an attempt to further unite us between High Days. She expressed the desire to discuss books after the business portions of the meetings as well as online on the new blog.
o Jen E suggested Bard The Odyssey of the Irish by Morgan Llywelyn. Several interested members agreed. Further discussion on how much to read before the next meeting will be online.
o Jen K also suggested everyone look into A Pagan Ritual Prayer Book by Ceisiwr Serith.
o Skip will be presenting on Druidism and ADF at Syracuse University on April 20th from 7-9 in the Hendrix Chapel.
Meeting closed at 4:35 pm

Good evening, grovies!
FYI, I’ve been playing with the website some more. A couple people have mentioned to me that the yellow on the website bothered their eyes so I’m going through and changing it to white for now. White is one of the best colors for websites in terms of simplicity, readability, and color coordination. I’ve left the menu bar light green and added green accents here and there. I will continue to tweak it. I hope this is ok with everyone for now. In the future, it could be fun to have everyone vote on colors. As stated at the last meeting, I’m learning more about CSS forms and would like to change the website quite a bit. That will take some time… Please be patient with me!
I also updated some information about Beltaine (on the front page) and some upcoming festivals (on the event calendar). As suggested by the Senior Druid, I moved the link for Muin Mound Madness to the “Into the Grove” section as we haven’t held the event for a few years. It can easily be moved up front should we plan a new one!
Soon to come:
- Spring Equinox meeting minutes
- Wellspring 2010 photos
- Spring Equinox 2011 photos
- Updated DP, Artisan, and Bardic pages
- A Druid Scouts page
- A Book Club page
Ok, I think I’ve delayed bedtime long enough!

Jen K sent me a ton of photos from Beltaine 2008. Several of them can be viewed on the Muin Mound website! Just click on “Into the Grove” on the menu, then select “Grove Photos.” I did not post all of them because there were *many* and some were very similar. I chose what I felt to be the best. I also have a few that need to be edited so they are vertical. I’ll try to do that soon because there are some lovely shots of the finished Maypole.
If anyone is concerned about their photo(s) being on the website, please email me privately (link at left) and let me know which photo. I can either remove the photo or edit it so your face is blurred out.
As always, if you have anything you’d like to share on the Grove blog, please email me!

As some of you may have noticed, I’ve been tweaking the Muin Mound Website. If you are looking for information on the Folk of the Grove, rituals, chants, or photos, those are now under the “Into the Grove” link which is on the menu. I’ve also included a section on the Dedicant Program with some basic information. Jen and I have been talking about how the Grove could honor those who have completed their DPs. I think it is important to recognize such accomplishments on our website. Right now, I haven’t added any names because I want to make sure I have up-to-date information.
I also added a section under “Into the Grove” for our artists, bards, and warriors. If you associate yourself with any of those titles, please reply to this post with some ideas! I would love photos/scans of artwork, poems, and chants. If you consider yourself a warrior, tell me why! What sort of physical hobbies do you have? Have you won any awards? Do you have a photo of yourself from a competition or fishing/hunting trip? Are you in the army? Let us know! We want to celebrate you!
Some other ideas for the site I have include: a hearth and home page with recipes and natural cleaning/healing remedies submitted by members; member altars; a book club; a seed exchange. Do any of these sound interesting to you? Let me know!
